The Learning Ladder

Our approach to training is based on a learning ladder to success. Most participants in our programs are newcomers to Canada eager to fully participate in the Canadian experience.

The first step of this ladder is an introduction to the Canadian culture learned through participation in basic English classes. These may be formal such as LINC classes or informal such as our English Cafe.

The second step is to participate in local, community based training programs such as those offered by Community Matters and described on this page.

The third step is to practice the skills developed by volunteering or working part time in at work which is related to the training which was of most interest.

Beyond the community the next step is to gain further education through colleges or university programs, especially those offering practical experience as part of the course. Or perhaps directly to fulfilling employment
