Fundamental Movement Skills

The development of fundamental movement skills and motor skills is critical to establishing the foundation for participation in many sports and physical activities. A child who has not had the opportunity to develop these basic motor skills experiences difficulties or barriers when participating in sport experiences, or later school-based programs that involve more difficult skills.

This is particularly important in a community such as St. James Town which is very dense with few recreational areas.

To attract those who may be interested in activities other than sports we have approached Fundamental Movement not only through gymnastics and soccer but also through dance as way to get parents and children committed to physical exercise. Please contact us to learn more and participate with us.


St. James Town Swim Club
Our Thursday swim program includes classes for our After School children, Competitive Swim classes for children from 5 to 7 p.m. And Women’s Only Aquafit and swim lessons  7 to 9 p.m. To sign up please contact us or enroll on line.


These classes maintain awareness and focus on the breath (Ujjayi Pranayama) while moving through a series of postures. The sequence of postures may be different from class to class, but always follow an intelligent progression that moves from basic to complex. This style of yoga builds heat, flexibility and strength, while maintaining focus on good alignment and sound structure. Postures may be held for longer periods of time, and will flow together to unite the body to the breath and mind. The classes are open to all and posture modifications will be given to accommodate all levels.


Meditation program every Tuesday to keep a healthy balance for mind & body.


We do 30 minutes aerobic exercise and 30 minutes oriental belly dancing. This dance helps tone stomach fat and the torso. A lot of movement for the arms and shoulder.


Dance is one of the forms of exercise that helps to reduce stress and depression along with increased flexibility of the body. It is a great way to be social and make friends.


A high speed exercise with lots of jumping, a lot of fast movements, and dance moves. Great exercise for the whole body.
