Freshwater Eco Systems: small but mighty

Aquatic ecosystems are essential to the health of our planet, and protecting freshwater resources is critical for human populations and biodiversity. As a local Toronto organization on the edge of the Laurentian Great Lakes, it is important to acknowledge our connection to freshwater ecosystems as we increase waste literacy and reduce plastic pollution in our local ecosystems.

We asked members of the Toronto Trash Team to learn more about their perspectives on the topic, and here’s what they each had to say.

The U of T Trash Team is a science-based community outreach group made up of undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, researchers, local volunteers and staff all working together with a common goal to increase waste literacy in our community while reducing plastic pollution in our ecosystems.
