During our years of supporting residents actively working in St. James Town we were fortunate to meet many newcomers who eagerly learned, contributed to the community and went beyond to create their own organizations. We currently support three such individuals through their organizations:
Gifted Peoples Services
Gifted People Services provides training, support, resources, and respite services to families touched by developmental disabilities by empowering these families with knowledge and advocacy skills, helping them to enjoy life to the fullest.
Community Matters Hamilton
Community Matters Hamilton is committed to supporting immigrants and refugees throughout every stage of their settlement journey, from pre-arrival to achieving career success.
As a sister organization to Community Matters Toronto, years of expertise in immigrant settlement services are brought to Hamilton, Ontario, helping newcomers integrate, thrive, and contribute to our vibrant community and beyond. Essential programs are provided through partnerships with government agencies, local businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations.
These programs include Pre-Arrival Support, English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs, Settlement & Integration Services, Employment & Career Support and Community Connections & Networking.
Free Speech Hub
Free Speech Hub (FSH) is a journalist-centric, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Afghan journalists & upholding press freedom and freedom of speech.
With deep roots in journalism, our primary mission is to address the critical needs of journalists and media professionals in Afghanistan, both in-country and in exile. We aim to foster unity among Afghan media organizations, building bridges between those operating from Afghanistan and those in exile.
We would love to hear about more community contributions from former Community Matters participants. For more information contact us here.
